"Secret Daughter," was a FANTASTIC read as many of you suggested. A book by www.shilpigowda.com will be adapted by Canadian filmmaker Deepa Mehta soon.
I finally got around to reading it and could not put it down. I was captivated with Kavita's story line, felt like I was in India experiencing the sights, sounds and smells. The author was inspired to write this book after a visit to an orphanage in India. The stories of motherhood are engaging, families are all created differently. The family you create is more important than the one you're born into. It focuses on infanticide, abandonment and how differently people value a girl.
Enjoyed it very much! ![]()

Please help support filmmakers such as Jeet Matharru who have put their heart and soul into conveying this heartbreaking issue to the world to help bring about change. I had the opportunity to watch ascreening last year as well as meet the director thereafter. He was passionate about bringing change and using his artform allowed him to do that so very creatively. Excellent story line and sound quality.

GirlKIND had an amazing time celebrating Canada Day at Exhibition Park in Abbotsford, BC. The weather was hot, hot, hot, record temperature hot! It was great meeting community members and sharing our message of creating a better world where EVERY GIRL MATTERS by bringing an end to gendercide and the many discriminations females face all around the world. Thank you to everyone that stopped by and all the lovely ladies that volunteered their time. Many thanks to Saint Soldier for stopping with his family while they enjoyed the celebrations.
